Bringing Inspiration Home Featuring Fireclay Tile
It all started with a little blue tile. Fireclay had been a favorite of Diane’s since she remodeled her kitchen using their custom painted tile tool for her backsplash. The blue tile was to be the focal point for a Greek inspired bath oasis. Diane shares how travel can be used to inspire your home and why surrounding yourself with what you love is all that really matters.
The inspiration really came from my travels, especially in Greece. The beautiful, brilliant colors there – especially the blues – just make me happy. I liked the way that many homes in Greece had their window and door frames painted in bright blues.
We decided to accent the shower wall with a pop of blue for a sleek shower insert.
I was also inspired by Monet’s house in Giverny- it is a riot of color! I didn’t go quite that far myself, but it made me realize that if color makes you happy you should go for it.
Diane chose Cambria countertops for the durable quartz and the clean, white color. Large format white subway tile pairs as a nice backdrop for the blue and she chose her favorite shade of grey for the cabinets.
Living in color impacts my everyday experience because it really makes me happy to see the beautiful colors everyday! It’s energizing.
We used a linear drain in the shower so that we did not have to break up the beautiful, seamless pattern on the shower floor. It really took the shower up a notch.
If I were to give someone advice who was on the fence about using bold color I would say do what makes you happy. Surround yourself with what you find beautiful. If you love it, that’s all that matters.
