Lighting For Personal Style
My goal for this week’s blog was to invite a pro in the lighting field to share advice on how lighting impacts the feel of a space. Unfortunately, we couldn’t make it work in time for this week’s blog and I wanted to make sure everyone knew about the Spring Sale which ends TODAY!
Thus, I will be sharing my TOP 5 favorites with you and why I love them. When visiting the lighting showrooms at Dallas Market, most clients feel a mix of overwhelm and excitement with the extensive selection they have. Lighting has been having a moment over the last few years and everyone from Ellen Degeneres to one of my favorite designers, Kelly Wearstler, has a line.
Why do they all have lines? Because it’s fun! It truly has become an art form and the best part is, in recent years mixing and matching has become common place for high style designs. I personally have always loved mixing and matching because sometimes you will be drawn to brass sconces for that old world look on your book shelves but want aged iron for your chandelier. It works.
Here are my picks:Â
1. MODERN HALO IN GILDÂ
This light is so incredibly versatile. One thing that has happened with the grey and white trend is that we need to bring warmth back in with brass and natural wood elements for balance. This fixture has clean, simple lines and could go in so many different spaces! It’s a nice size at 27 inches and comes in several finishes. Â
2. 2-TIER AGED IRON
The aged iron chandelier I was talking about? Right here! I love this one because it’s a more modern take on the classic aged iron chandelier. It’s not too heavy.Â
 3. BLACK + BRASS PENDANT LIGHT
This is a great piece to marry black and brass if you are using these 2 finishes in your home. They are so sturdy and timeless — I love them!
4. SCONCE IN CRYSTAL
This beautiful wall sconce is by AERIN, granddaughter of Estee Lauder. She has one of my favorite lines at Market. It’s feminine yet sturdy and she has unique takes on classics.  Â
5. ANTIQUE NICKEL VANITY LIGHT
Last of all, is this incredibly sturdy vanity light. Every time I am at market, my eye is drawn to these pieces because of their finish. They look like they have been around for 100 years in a good way and will withstand 100 more.Â
The bottom line is, what are you drawn to? That is what I always ask my clients. Personal style is about owning what you love. My job is to guide the client on how it can all work together. Most of the time, it can because personal style is you — it’s your house!
